Did a short stop at Match Cup in Marstrand to meet friends and take some pictures. Pretty bad light and long range forced me to push the ISO and use as many mm as possible.

Went out in my fathers little "snipa" to watch when the Volvo Ocean Race left for Stockholm from Marstrand Sweden. Very hard to get access to good spots so I had to use a 2X converter. Not great but you do what you have to do. Click the picture to see more pics

Young sailors from Sweden, Norway, Denmark meet in Stenungsund every year to kick start the season with the regatta SSECS/SSOCS/SSZCS. I spent some hours out on the water following the Optimist fleet.

The Cape Verdian windsurfer Djo Silva CV-11 makes a practice jump in the wave at the beach of Santa Maria. He was one of the participants of the PWA 2009 World Cup event on Cabo Verde that finished just before we arrived at the island.

This is an HDR-experiment with mixed light temperatures. Very tricky when you mig tungsten and old school bulbs in the same picture.

This picture was inspired by an old picture found at the wall of Väderöarna`s Guest House & Restaurant. It basically looks the same as it did 150 years ago. Although its hard to imagine how someone could live here without electricity or gasoline.

The fortress of my home town Kungälv was partly demolished at the end of the 18th century. Residents of the surrounding town of Kungälv used the dressed stone of the fortress for building houses. Lazy people...Some parts of the fortress still remains though. This is an HDR composite of the main entrance.

First test with blank and white nature close ups. Its very hard to do this without a tripod. Of 20 exposures only two were sharp. Apeture has to be over f4 next time I try this.

Hej Anders!
Fantastiska bilder. By Jonas, at 16 November, 2008 00:18 Post a Comment

This years edition of the Gotland Runt off shore race was a comfy experience with winds between two and 20 knots. I sailed on Essex Girl again as floater. The boat has a great crew that is both experienced and fun to be around. We did a good start and managed to reach clean air pretty fast. At Almagrund we had a feeling that the new sails worked well. Later in the race this was confirmed when we got reports telling us that we were leading our class. At Fårö the wind died. We stuck to a conservative strategy even though most boats started to hunt for wind along the shore line. In the end it turned out that we reach new wind first and could gain some distance. The east side of Gotland was tacking for hours in winds between 6 to 16 knots. The new Genoa 1 heavy served us well and we managed to sail faster than most bigger boats around. On the way to Knolls grund it was night and we were reaching with a 0.75 spinnaker doing 10 to 16 knots. We passed less then fifty meters behind a ferry at full speed. A scary but beautiful experience. The ferry looked like a gigantic Christmas tree shining through our sails. The rest of the race was pretty uneventful. Inspired by Tour de France we created a rotation for the guys trimming the spinnaker. 10 minutes grinding, 10 minutes trimming, 10 minutes rest and then back to grinding, and so on. This was very effective and we mananged to stay focused in the hot sun all the way up to Alma. When we crossed the finish line we knew that we had won our class. That felt very good and gave a sweet taste to all beers that night. Check out the pics.

On a rainy day in august, Pelle Stanikowski asked me if I would like accompany him and his drag racing team North Race on their tour to England. That is an offer I could not refuse. We travelled to Shakespeare County Raceway in Stratford-Upon-Avon. It is an air strip from the second world war that now hosts a great track for drag racing. Great event! Beautiful cars thundering down the strip. Something that has to be experienced live. The sound of these cars gets your adrenaline running. The rocket propelled car scared the shit out of me when I was standing to close taking pictures. Team North Race managed to beat the track record (6,842s) on their first run, which meant I was hanging out with the coolest gang of that weekend :-) See the pics here.
